Location and Date

We have a date! And not only a date but our location has been secured too. Yah!  Our event will be held on September 17, 2011 in Island Park on Main Street in Williamsville.  Island Park is a nice little park in a central location and perfect for what we are doing!  As you start buying your 2011 calendars, be sure to mark the date!

Facebook Page

We have a facebook page created! If you use facebook, click on the facebook badge in the right sidebar and then ’Like’ our page. And if you feel real inclined, please suggest the page to your friends as well. You can do that once you are on the page by hitting the “Suggest to Friends” link under Colin’s picture on the left. This page is another way for us to help increase awareness of our event and therefore SMS. Your help is much appreciated.

Are you a character?

We will have a fun side event going on simultaneously with the games. There will be an artist there who does caricature drawings.  Be sure to join us and have yourself drawn.  Since the event is in September, it won’t be too early to start thinking of Christmas.  What a different and fun Christmas gift that would be!  I think I will have myself drawn and then give it to Gary.  But he already knows I am a character!

Paint Fool

How do you like that for a catchy title? The planning stage has become even more vigorous as we sort out what exactly the event will be. Cheryl Ritter, a Florida artist, will be painting a lovely piece of art just for our event! Cheryl does beautiful work and you can see some of it on her website here. Thank you Cheryl!

Donation button

I have been asked about a way to donate from the site. Yep, that is coming! I have to work with PRISMS on this and am waiting to hear back from them.  But yes, there will be a way to donate through the site.  Subscribe for email notification and you will be alerted when a new post is posted and then you will know when the donation button is added. First post

Took me a few hours to get it done, but I finally have the blog/website up and running for our Backyard Olympics! We will use this as a way to update anyone who is interested in the progress of our event scheduled for mid September 2011.  We are just in the very beginning planning stages right now but it has already begun to get interesting!  We have had nice people offer to help in various ways and to different degrees. All the help is so much appreciated! We are just a few but when a few band together almost anything can be accomplished!
